When I try to open my Worms 4 Mayhem DATA 1 or DATA 2 folder nothing happens except there is a message box which says "The archive is either in unknown format or damaged",so what is the problem? :?:

In my W4M the files aren't in archives so I have no experience with that. What file format are the archives?

I think they are XOM files.... However,my Worms 4 is an original CD (I bought it about 4 years ago) so I don't know why is my game different from yours...

The difference has to be with the game version, most likely. I'm not really sure what you can do if you have a .xom archive, as I never had one of the files so I never looked into it.

I actually have two versions, US and Europe (the Euro being my bro's game). The setup version # for the older of the two (being US) is 10.1.0.238.

Help with DATA folder Empty Re: Help with DATA folder

Post by Fireworm Mon Mar 05, 2012 6:04 pm

Well you see, mine isn't in archives so they are accessible to edit on the spot. All I have to do is drag x tweak (x being unknown, because it depends on the tweak) into x folder and replace the other file.

A .xom archive decompliler hasn't been made afaik, it's probably going to have to be to be able to do anything. :/

What version are you using, and how is your folder layed out (if there is one) inside the Worms 4 Mayhem folder? For mine, inside the W4M folder there is a folder called data which contains the savegame and all the folders containing everything else.

If it was a month ago I would of said Vista, but I am currently using W7. The computer shouldn't matter when relating to game files though.

To check, find your setup (usually found on the CD). Right click it and go into properties, then go to the "details" tab. It will tell you the version and last date modified there.

Help with DATA folder Empty Re: Help with DATA folder

They probably changed the way the files were distributed between versions. So yeah, versions can make a big difference. I wonder why they put the files more exposed in the later versions though.

Unfortunately as no one (to my knowledge) have modded these .xom files, you best chances of modding the game are, learn reverse engineering (for this particular file format), or find someone else with the with the same version (files) as you that can (I'm seeing this as a not likely choice). Or you can buy another copy for like $5-$10 online.

*avoids talking about being a pirate* (cause well, you do own the game, but another version)

I don't own WUM so I don't know (I doubt it though). I think from what I've heard all the files are in .xom format, thus currently making them untweakable.

Well,I will still try to download your version(or better because you said that further versions have a better chance for installing tweaks on them),but if I do,would I lose all my progress in the previous version?

Also,as for these tweaks, maybe Dzani knows the answer.... Neutral

I think you are trying to open DATA 1 and DATA 2 from a DVD. You cant tweak game on a DVD. You must Install it, and locate the installation folder. That is where you install the tweaks.

Why would you that ? If you want to tweak go to your installation folder and copy tweaks there. Usually it is C:/Programs Files/Worms 4 Mayhem or somewhat similar to that. In installation folder, there is DATA folder and all tweaks go there. Simple as that Smile
